Flowers Bring Joy

We like to think of FLORA as a small flower farm with a big heart. Our flowers are nutured from tiny seeds to beautiful blooms, and we get so much joy from watching them grow.  We all need a little more joy in our lives, so we’re on a mission to make our bunches of farm-fresh blooms easily available to our local community. Together we can bring joy and comfort where it's needed!

Growing with the Seasons

Thanks to our lovely climate here on the Matakana Coast, we have flowers blooming almost all year. We grow with the seasons, so the flowers we have available are constantly changing. We also do our best to grow in an environmentally considerate way…so you can safely smell our flowers!

Local is Best

We like to keep it local. We are locals – we grow locally – we sell locally! You will regularly find our bunches at Charlies Gelato Garden, and we also supply Twig & Bloom Florist in Matakana Village. This season (2023) we will be trialling a pop-up roadside stall at our Point Wells Farm, so that many of our loyal customers can walk or cycle to get their flowers.

About Lisa

Green-fingered

I guess you could say I was born to grow things! The earliest years of my life saw me crawling around the black soil of Point Wells on my parents’ Market Garden (eating worms so I am told!), My green-fingered Dad always encouraged my interest in growing, so over the years I’ve never been without a garden of some sort – I’m sure it keeps me sane!

Creative

I have always been what you would call a ‘creative type’, and my adult life has flowed from a Horticulture degree (in Landscape Design) to 20 years as an artist, to training as a florist, and now to a passionate love affair with growing flowers on my little patch of soil. I feel fortunate to have a business that gives me my daily exercise, nourishes my soul, and enables me to nourish others in my community. As well as growing flowers, I also love to use my artistic flair and floristry training to create bouquets that are just a bit unique.

Generous

Growing up, generosity to our community was always important in our family. My parents aimed to grow ‘enough for ourselves, and an abundance to give away’. They will be pleased to know that I am carrying on this family tradition of being generous with what we grow. I have a few contacts in the community who distribute flowers to those who need some extra joy. I also love to leave my ‘pick-me-up posies’ around town for strangers to pick up and give away.
